Road and rail tunnels
Road and rail tunnels
The formidable obstacle of the Penmaenbach can be appreciated from this position. Steep rock faces, fractured ground and coastal location created serious problems for the civil engineers. Telford's original road, the 1930's road tunnel and the extension to the railway tunnel can all be seen in this image.
