There are parts of 4 grid squares in this view. SD3959 is in the foreground, the 3 others are (left to right) SD3960, SD4060 & SD4059.
In Spring 1982, Heysham 1 power station was essentially complete. Heysham 2 (right foreground) was under construction.
In the harbour, there was only one RoRo ferry ramp. This has recently been replaced and 2 others have been built.
The gas field servicing offices had yet to be built on the north quay.
The area in the right background (where the oil tanks can be seen) is now an industrial estate.
The level area in front of this, which used to be covered in railway sidings, is now used for lorry/trailer parking.
