Echoes of Centurions
Echoes of Centurions
This is one of the few remaining parts of the old Roman road from Exeter to Newton Abbot that you can walk on. At this point it is a disused road at Sandygate, north of Kingsteignton. This part of the road ends at that fence where the signpost is. The Roman road went straight on. At that signpost there is a right turn into Sedgewell, but that road was cut in half when the A380 dual carriageway was built. To the left of this old road lies extensive clay quarrying.
