Developed as a country residence for the Abbots of Tewkesbury from the 12th century until the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century.
The great hall certainly dates back to the 15th century.
A variety of architectural styles illustrate the more recent developments in the mid 18th century, 1889, 1913 and 1958.
