SD9278 : The end of the run, Upper Wharfe

taken 8 years ago, near to Hubberholme, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

The end of the run, Upper Wharfe
The end of the run, Upper Wharfe
The Upper Wharfe was at a runnable level (0.68m on the gauge above New House SD8879 : Awkward drop at New House on the Upper Wharfe), but despite the expectation of a big thaw, was dropping during our descent. The river flattens off and widens out a lot below Hubberholme, meaning it requires considerably more water to paddle, and is less interesting for paddlers, so it is usual to take out river left downstream of the bridge. The view looks upstream to the last bit of easy water above the bridge.
