Seen at the Imperial War Museum, in London. More than 70 years have elapsed since the early Spitfires took to the skies, and I still think that they were the most elegant aeroplanes ever designed. The one on display would have been from the Battle of Britain era when, along with the more numerous Hurricanes, the Spitfires helped repel the threat from the German air force.
