Raised Walkway
Raised Walkway
A shot showing why this length of road has this special timber sidewalk. The water is about 25cm deep. Just visible in the green kiosk by the bridge is the Environment Agency's flood warning station, which alarms out when levels start to rise so that in theory owners of affected property have a bit of time to prepare.
You can see it better in Colin Bates' picture SU6097 : Hayward Bridge
