NO5003 : Fife way pointer

taken 18 years ago, near to Abercrombie, Fife, Scotland

Fife way pointer
Fife way pointer
These rather distinctive way pointers are common around NE Fife. Originally made from cast iron, many have now been replaced by facsimiles made from glass fiber. Most are replaced after being damaged by vehicles failing to take the many bends. They date from I don't know when but back at least into the early 1920s or further. Today several of the pointers on this one don't show the direct route anymore and some of the places don't seem to be around in the two thousand and naughties.
