Town Hall Foundation Stone (1902), St. Owen's Street
Town Hall Foundation Stone (1902), St. Owen's Street
The foundation stone was laid by Her Royal Highness Princess Henry of Battenberg on the 13th May 1902. She was the youngest child of Queen Victoria, and the widow of Prince Henry of Battenberg. At the time of the first world war, when the British Royal Family strove to disassociate itself from its many German roots, the Princess reverted to her original title of HRH The Princess Beatrice.
