Pittington Quarry
Now abandoned, Pittington Quarry was one of the numerous quarries extracting dolomite from the Magnesian limestone escarpment in eastern county Durham. Many of these sites are now nature reserves, harbouring a rich variety of limestone-specific flora, and this one is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
