The summit of Yr Wyddfa
The summit of Yr Wyddfa
Ever since the first recorded ascent of Yr Wyddfa ("the burial mound") in 1639 by Thomas Johnson using the Beddgelert route, the summit of the highest mountain in Wales (3560ft) has continued to be a popular tourist spot. The less strenuous option to hiking is taking the Snowdon Mountain Railway which was opened in 1896.

A cairn was first erected on the summit in 1827 by the Ordnance Survey.
