This building dates back to 1716, thought to stand on the foundations of an older inn called The Sandiway Head. It was renamed in honour of the foxhound Bluecap (depicted here atop the brewery sign in the foreground), famous for his speed and stamina, who lived at the nearby Cheshire Hunt kennels SJ5969 during the mid 18th century.
