This plaque is on the wall of the central library in Old Hall Street and remembers Edward Bird, the painter, who spent time in the Great Hall when it was used as a japanning works.

Bird was born in Wolverhampton, the son of a carpenter. He received no formal artistic training, but developed his skills through apprenticeship as a japanning artist painting tea trays. (from LinkExternal link )
