Forth & Clyde Canal in winter
Forth & Clyde Canal in winter
Three weeks after the severe winter of Dec. 09 and Jan 10, still frozen over. This is the widest stretch stretch of the whole navigation.
The towpath here was sunk 50ft. into the bog by the builders before it stabilised. The canal is contained by this but as there is no retaining wall on the south it is allowed to simply flood to its own level hence the expanded width.
