NZ2464 : Rosie's Bar, Stowell Street

taken 8 years ago, near to Newcastle Upon Tyne, Great Britain

Rosie's Bar, Stowell Street
Rosie's Bar, Stowell Street
Built around 1890 on the corner of Stowell Street and St Andrew's Street. It was originally the Northumberland Arms and became the Darn Crook (the former name of St Andrew's Street) in the 1970s becoming Rosie's bar in 1988.
The name, Darn Crook, is still used for St Andrew's Street by locals. The name's origin is probably from a dark and twisting lane. The street was blocked at the north end by the Town Wall until 1810.
A corner view of Rosie's Bar is here NZ2464 : Rosie's Bar where the massive doorway column and small pointed corner roof spire can be seen.
