Berrington Hall
Berrington Hall
Built in 1778 by Thomas Harley to designs by Henry Holland. Harley was a successful banker and government contractor. He was the main supplier for the British army in America and became Lord Mayor of London in 1767. The core of the house is brick, with an ashlar sandstone facing from the nearby Shuttocks Hill quarry. Beneath the portico, the central space between the Ionic columns is wide to allow uninterrupted views of the Black Mountains and Radnor Forest.
