Ice Fall beside Layby 59
This ice fall has an even more pronounced skirt than NN7867 : Ice Fall beside Layby 59. I surmise that the skirt is formed by water freezing as it runs down the surface of the ice flow, and that this ice is more solid than the snow below it, so when the thaw sets in the granular snow below melts more readily than the solid ice above.
