Millennium Bridge - Lancaster
The very handy pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Lune not far from Lancaster town centre. In recent years the old metal rail that run from here along the old 18th century quay to Carlisle bridge just down stream has been replaced by flood walls. The 'Dalek' on the distant hill is really the Ashton Memorial in Williamson's park. Where the Millennium bridge reaches the left north river bank, where you see the green grass, this area is the bottom of Lune St. Here on the bank of the Lune in 1945 people of the area celebrated VE DAY with a massive bonfire, so I was informed on good authority by one who was there.
