Running Ghaistrills at a lowish level
Running Ghaistrills at a lowish level
Most of the snow has now melted and run off, and water levels are down to the low side for a winter run on the Wharfe. The main flow at Ghaistrill's Strid in these conditions is confined to the river-left channel which is a boisterous little cut over a rocky bed. At this level it is a fairly straightforward run down, barely grade 3, and leading to a calm area with plenty of time to recover any upsets, or to take out to provide safety cover for those following.
