SD9770 : Ledge drop on the Middle Wharfe

Ledge drop on the Middle Wharfe
Ledge drop on the Middle Wharfe
The gradient of the River Wharfe from Kettlewell to Conistone (the upper part of what canoeists call the Middle Wharfe) is quite low for a whitewater river, so it is no surprise to find lots of flat water with the occasional shingle rapid and the odd bedrock ledge. With most of the snow melted and already run off, this run was at a medium to low winter level and this stretch was a bit of a bump and scrape in places (this is why most groups put on at SD9767 : Conistone bridge). This ledge drop provided one of the few playspots on the run, but didn't detain us for long.
