NY9126 : Footbridge over Scar Beck

Footbridge over Scar Beck
Footbridge over Scar Beck
Scar Beck starts among Holwick Scars above the village and receives several more tributaries from the hillside, including Rowton Beck, which cascades in a gorge from Crossthwaite Scar. By the time the combined waters reach their confluence with the River Tees, this substantial footbridge is needed to cross the water. The Pennine Way drops down from a high bank on the outside of a meander of the Tees, and crosses the beck onto a floodplain on the inside of the next meander upstream.
