Game crop near Queenwood Farm
The field is still stubble with game crop to the side. The hedge has a number of yew trees in it.
The natural distribution of yew (Taxus baccata) is widespread throughout Britain and Europe to Iran. Whilst it is commonly found in woods and hedgerows yew is not usually regarded as a dominant species; yews more often occur as individual trees. However, they thrive on downland; in Hampshire the yew is locally known as 'Hampshire weed'.
