SK1375 : Bottom end of Peter Dale

taken 8 years ago, near to Wheston, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Bottom end of Peter Dale
Bottom end of Peter Dale
The sign says Monk's Dale, which is actually on the other side of this road, behind the photographer. This is looking north. The Limestone Way at this point, having come down through Hay Dale and Peter Dale,is here diverted up along a road to Monksdale House, where it turns south again. This is in recognition of Monk's Dale being one of the most awkward stretches of walking in the White Peak. If you are going to twist your ankle, you are going to do it down Monk's Dale. It is very rocky, and wet limestone is very slippy
