Narrowboat "New-Ark" occupies a private mooring spot near Bridge No 61.

The canal took from 1766 until 1777 to build - 93.5 miles from Derwent Mouth to Preston Brook. James Brindley was responsible for the surveying, and engineered the project until his death in 1772.
