Bergh Apton Fields and church
Bergh Apton Fields and church
A quiet country scene now but in Roman times this location was the site of a Settlement/small fort. The high point perfect for watching over the boggy marshlands. The mound where the church is was possibly added to by the Roman legion but it may be all natural. When the Romans left Anglo Saxons moved in with several finds in the area (some in Castle museum, Norwich).

Archeological excavations have also found Bronze age items putting the site's occupancy to many thousands of years.
