Ebenezer Primitive Methodist Church, Woodyates
Ebenezer Primitive Methodist Church, Woodyates
In today’s language there maybe some difficulty in the interpretation of the name, but it can best be clarified by the acceptable dictionary definition of the word primitive as 'original', for from the time of its inception, the Primitive Methodist Church has endeavoured to hold, not only John Wesley’s doctrine, but also his methods and practices in reaching the world for Jesus Christ. It is believed that the first meeting took place in the Ebenezer Chapel in Leeds. This church was built in 1852 and has been redundant for many years - there have also been a number of attempts by the Church to sell the building.
