Bridge No 62 at Brereton, Staffordshire
Bridge No 62 at Brereton, Staffordshire
The bridge carries the A513 road across the Trent and Mersey Canal near Rugeley. There is a deceptively sharp turn for narrowboats to approach the bridge hole here, and oncoming craft cannot be seen by the tillerman until a very late stage. Two boats can pass each other if they meet, but only if the oncoming vessel is already well to the right, and even then it is a tight squeeze. :-)
