The Two Stone Men of Fountains Fell
The Two Stone Men of Fountains Fell
A. Wainwright describes these cairns as stone men in his Pennine Way Companion. Winter holds the summit plateau in a deep grip, although the thaw has set in for a couple of weeks in the dales below. The temperature was a healthy -10C, so it maybe sometime before the snow and ice disappears.
