Trent and Mersey Canal at Rugeley, Staffordshire
Trent and Mersey Canal at Rugeley, Staffordshire
The Trent and Mersey canal, open here by 1770,and completed through to Preston Brook in 1777, has acted as a boundary to the expansion of Rugeley to the north-east. Staffordshire's "Way for the Millennium" long distance footpath uses the towpath here - an attractive walk when autumn colours are richest.
