To Coldharbour Farm
To Coldharbour Farm
Coldharbour Farm sounds a bit unusual, but it is by no means an uncommon name around the Downs and Chilterns, and probably elsewhere.
A coldharbour was, I believe, a simple shelter or refuge for travelers caught out by nightfall or bad weather. It seems hard to imagine it these days, but I guess in times past this sort of open countryside could be pretty bleak.
