NZ0107 : Stang Forest edge

taken 8 years ago, near to West Hope, County Durham, Great Britain

Stang Forest edge
Stang Forest edge
Hope Moor still has plenty of snow, but it still hasn't settled fully into the heather and traversing it is not much easier than when the moor was first covered back in early December (I gave up a ski tour after about 200m on the first day of serious snow). The ground has never really been frozen underneath. The area of forest to the right of the photograph was clear-cut in 2009 NZ0207 : What became of the Stang Forest, and one wonders how long the next block has got before meeting the same fate.
