Ballasalla - Monks Bridge over Silver Burn River
Ballasalla - Monks Bridge over Silver Burn River
View is to the southeast from a footpath (Millennium Way) along the west side of the Silver Burn River north of the Mill Road ford. This is a footbridge that was built by Monks (1350AD) to transport supplies via packhorses across the Silver Burn River to Rushen Abbey. I was advised on 2014-11-11 that Rushen Abbey was established in 1134, and that the Monk's Bridge was actually built in 1350, not 1131 as I thought.
