Camster Round Cairn
Camster Round Cairn
The Grey Cairns of Camster are Neolithic burial mounds - about 35,000BC. The Round Cairn is on fairly flat terrace and is 12 foot high and 59 foot in diameter. A narrow passage give access to a tall central chamber that retains its original corbelled roof.
There are smaller passages off.
Pottery, skeletons, burnt bone and flint tools were recovered from the round cairn.
