Firbeck Junction SYJL
Firbeck Junction SYJL
The South Yorkshire Joint Line was owned a consortium of the Great Central, Great Northern, Lancashire & Yorkshire, Midland and North Eastern Railways, running from Anston (just off the Great Central's main East-West route between Retford and Sheffield) up to Doncaster. Its purpose was to serve the numerous collieries in the area. The line on the right served Harworth mine. This mine is mothballed and no trains have run to Harworth for a number of years. The line on the left heads towards Doncaster and Maltby behind me. Mainly used by coal trains this line can be quite busy at times, the line is freight only.
