Motor driven pump, Littleton Pumping Station
The large Worthington Simpson centrifugal pump was originally direct coupled to a 770 horsepower uniflow steam engine but this was replaced by this large DC motor driving through a David Brown reduction gear box. There were originally large mercury arc rectifiers but these have been replaced by solid state rectifiers.
