Steam engine, A Dyke & Sons, Netherhall Nursery, Roydon
A rare example of a Peter Brotherhood inverted vertical compound (enclosed) engine. Built in 1930/1 it was used in steam laundries in Chatham and Cambridge and passed through another nursery to reach here in 1972 where it was used until the mid 1980s. It is now under a tarpaulin at the Cambridge Museum of Technology.
