NT5861 : East Lothian county top

taken 8 years ago, near to Meikle Says Law [hill or Mountain], East Lothian, Great Britain

East Lothian county top
East Lothian county top
The summit of Meikle Says Law, 535m. The fence beyond is a "liner"* for Berwickshire. The hill is easily accessible by bike by a track up the Faseny Water. There is no ongoing route, now that the path to the northeast has been abandoned and returned to moorland. The estate prefer wheeled traffic to stick to the road. Only problems with other routes on foot are the difficult heathery underfoot conditions. The county boundary fence provides secure parking in case anyone wants to nick your bike, or more temptingly, your potential energy.

* liner - county highpoint jargon : highest point of a county on a boundary not a summit. Berwickshire does not have a claim on the summit, but the boundary runs close by. See LinkExternal link
