I read that the building to house this collection 'should not be an institution but rather a home, in scale and in sympathy with the collection and the environment of the park'. The materials chosen for the building fabric are basic and have traditional associations. The floors are mainly stone, with some areas of timber and carpet; the walls are stone or plaster; and over the whole spans a laminated timber and boarded roof.
