The north headframe from the east. The structure can be seen as a ghostly shape though the protective sheeting..
Pleasley Colliery refurbishment
Work started in October 2009 on a major refurbishment of much of the structural elements of the Colliery. The exposed steelwork of the two headframes is being sandblasted and repainted and the concrete cladding added in 1975 repaired. (The concrete was added because of the deterioration of the steelwork even then!) Also included is the unblocking of the windows in both the engine houses which will enable visitors to get a better view of both surviving winding engines. Linked images start with a sequence taken at the end of January 2010.
