Inside the abandoned cottage at Cormilligan
This derelict cottage at the foot of Brunt Hill used to be the home of William McCaw, a local shepherd. He emigrated with his wife and nine of their children to New Zealand in 1880. The printed sheets on the wall are displaying a poem called “Cormilligan” by Rab Wilson. A visitor’s book hangs from a ceiling beam and it contains messages from descendants of the McCaw family who have travelled here from all over the world.
