Somerset Bridge
Somerset Bridge
A view of ST3135 : Railway bridge over the River Parrett from the upstream side. It "was originally designed by Brunel with a flatter masonry arch than his famous bridge at Maidenhead. It was built between 1838 and 1841 but due to movements in the bridge abutments it was replaced in 1843 by a timber structure on the same abutments. This survived until 1904 when it was replaced in steel" LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) .
