NT0855 : Craigengar

taken 8 years ago, near to Bawdy Moss [other Features], West Lothian, Great Britain

View from the slopes of Mealowther. Craigengar differs from Mealowther in that it is largely heather covered. Once over the Crosswood Burn, grouse could be seen and heard. The last big winter 1979 led to a drop in the numbers of grouse on the Colzium Estate - since that time there has been no organised grouse shooting there. In 2010 there were reports of grouse being seen in lowland East Lothian and Edinburgh, driven off the moors by deep snow.
