SP8410 : Oak & Black Poplar

taken 12 years ago, near to Weston Turville, Buckinghamshire, Great Britain

Oak & Black Poplar
Oak & Black Poplar
Two mighty trees represented here. The nearer tree (on the left) is a good old English Oak (Quercus robur) - but the one behind it is a much rarer Black Poplar (Populus nigra). Apparently most of the country's Black Poplars are to be found within a few miles of here ( see LinkExternal link )
This view is on the road between Weston Turville and Stoke Mandeville. I think the latter of these two villages probably lays claim to this row of houses, though it is nearer the centre of the former.
