Bridleway signs at Green Brough
The public bridleway north from Newsham hits the A66 at this point, and has been deflected somewhat with the recent upgrade to dual carriageway (NZ1012 : A66 Upgrade to Dual Carriageway). The second finger points to "Public bridleway A66 Equestrian crossing" which is essentially a staggered crossing with a fenced in bit on the central reservation. The two laminated printed signs are both statutory advertisements for a planning application for four units each housing 1000 pigs. Not two different applications, but the same application which has to be advertised for two different reasons, one because it has an environmental impact statement, and the second because it is a major development proposal. The two notices are identical except for one line at the bottom giving the reason for the notice being there. One hopes that Richmondshire council have produced an environmental impact statement for the consequences of gratuitous duplicate advertising. Surely it is not beyond the wits of even local government to put two reasons on the bottom of a single sheet ?
