Pumping engine, Willingham West Fen
Pumping engine, Willingham West Fen
Originally opened in 1847 with a 10 horsepower beam engine and scoopwheel. In 1901 a 32 horsepower Hornsby hot-bulb oil engine was installed. In 1936 this broke and was replaced by this Ruston & Hornsby type 6XHR costing 340 and belt driving the Clayton & Shuttleworth centrifugal pump. It officially ceased in 1973 and is now preserved by a trust.
I have yet to find my exterior photographs.
