Former St Barnabas church, Guildford Road
A view of the building from St Barnabas Villas. The street name reflects the original name of the church, built in 1850 to the designs of Isaac Clarke and James Humphrys. It was a very large church, seating 1500 people (including the galleries that were later removed).
The parish of St Barnabas, Kennington was merged with All Saints, South Lambeth in 1949 after which it became known as All Saints & St Barnabas. Demolition was being considered in 1970 but it continued in use as a church until 1978. It has since been converted by a housing association into flats and known as Ekarro House.
