Cottage by Hurleston Locks, Cheshire
Cottage by Hurleston Locks, Cheshire
The cottage is at the top of the flight of locks at Hurleston. The four locks lower the water level by 34 feet and 3 inches (about 10.4 metres)to the main line of the Shropshire Union Canal at Hurleston Junction. The ground paddle is up, and it appears that about another six inches (15cm) depth is needed before the lock is full. The tip of the waiting narrowboat's bow has crept in to the picture. A large reservoir is situated behind the cottage.
