TA4214 : Temporary road along Spurn Point

Temporary road along Spurn Point
Temporary road along Spurn Point
After being fixed in one position for several decades since WWII Spurn Point is free to move again. This is no bad thing as the coast to the north is now eroding at up to 2m per year so the dunes need to roll inland over the saltmarsh to keep in alignment. Dynamic coastlines and infrastructure don't mix very well but here the road is being maintained using a temporary road surface after the old road has fallen onto the beach.
