SD9851 : Skipton: Broughton Road

taken 8 years ago, near to Skipton, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Skipton: Broughton Road
Skipton: Broughton Road
Looking east. This is part of the A6069, and leads into the town centre. It is a busy road, but before the opening of the two Skipton by-passes in the early 1980s, it was even more so, often being completely choked with traffic. The nearest large building visible is Herriots Hotel, formerly the Midland Hotel; further away, the large mill building has been converted into high-quality residential accommodation. Skipton is now within commutable distance from both Leeds and Bradford, with an excellent service of electric trains; it is also a popular tourist destination - self-styled 'Gateway to the Dales'.
