Forestry operations in Gibbsneese plantation
A sign on the gate on the public footpath along Dent Gate lane leading into the forested area warned "Danger Forestry Operations", and further signs on all the side tracks warned passers-by to "keep out, no public access". The operations were, in fact, taking place right on the right-of-way, but the driver raised no objection as I waited for his log-mover to leave my way clear to walk quickly past. To casual observation, the main objective seemed to be to move a pile of logs from one side of the track to the other, and one could wonder why they weren't stacked on that side in the first place. However, on a closer look, there seemed to be some selection going on, and perhaps only logs with certain characteristics were being restacked.
